PM Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani gives ultimatum to Sindh land grabbers, extortionists

LAHORE - Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani on Saturday said the people of Sindh had stood up against land grabbers, extortionists and terrorists and they would not rest until these criminals were eliminated from the province.
“The land grabbers in Karachi should vacate state land worth trillions of rupees within a month,” he said during his visit to the residence of Hamid Mir, columnist and TV anchorperson, as a mark of respect to his father Prof Waris Mir, who was Gilani’s teacher at Punjab University. Gilani said the people of the country in general and the people of Sindh in particular have stood up against criminals who had taken the people’s life hostage.
The prime minister said across-the-board action would be taken against those who had robbed the state’s wealth, adding that thousands of acres of land would be retrieved as it was stated in the revenue record of the government. “National wealth belongs to the people of Pakistan, not to criminals and they will be made to pay every looted paisa,” he added. To a question on new provinces, Gilani said the people of southern Punjab felt the issue of creation of more provinces had been launched to sabotage their movement. He said the PPP leadership believed in consensus and would take decision of national importance on that basis, as it had done in case of constitutional amendments, National Finance Commission Awards, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Balochistan package. The prime minister said the federal government fully supported across-the-board operation in nine areas of Karachi which was being carried out successfully. He said law enforcement agencies had been instructed to take action on credible intelligence with a view to minimise collateral damage. The prime minister said peace in Karachi was critical for the economy of the country, as the city was an economic hub. “We cannot afford the law and order situation to go out of hand. We will succeed as it is the only option,” Gilani added. He said parties should discuss all issues in parliament, which was the symbol of the people of Pakistan and democracy.

Syed Zohaib Asad while commenting on our story wrote:

Pakistani Lollywood Movie " Love Mein Ghum " Title Song by Ali Zafar, feature 40 Pakistani Celebrities In First Pakistani Cenima Movie

The title song of the movie is sung by Ali Zafar and it features (actually gathers) all the famous and known faces of Lollywood and Pakistani Showbiz.
The Wardrobe for this music video is done by Nomi Ansari, who also features in the song. Whereas the video is directed by Saqib Malik, with Adnan Malik as Assistant.
The movie ‘Love Mein Ghum’ is sponsored by LUX – a renowned beauty soap – and the movie is slated to release on this EID.
Watch out the promotional song of Love Mein Ghum, which seems very much a redo of Bollywood Movie Om Shanti Om’s promotional song:

Love Main Ghum Pakistani Movie By Reema Khan The Lollywood Actress

The cinema of Pakistan, which we all call by the name of Lollywood; after going through a deteriorating phase, is trying hard day in and day out to survive and somehow revive the film industry.
Earlier this year, Shoaib Mansoor’s directorial venture Bol, which starred Atif Aslam in it, paved the way – after delivering a hit film – for Reema Khan’s Love Mein Ghum.
The official soundtrack for the movie Love Mein Ghum is finally out which carries compositions from several artists, locally and internationally; M. Arshad, Najat Ali, Waqar Ali, Hunterz (UK), and Ravi Bal (UK).
Not only that, it comprises names such as Ali Zafar, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Kailash Kher, Shreya Goshal, Sunidhi Chauhan and Shaan in the vocals department – which only adds up into the overall expectations of the album.

THE MUSIC

Kailash Kher and Shazia Manzoor – Sohniye Yaadan

Even though I’ve not been a fan of Shazia’s work, I felt like loving this one; this particular Punjabi duet has beautiful and strong vocals from her along with her Indian-counterpart Kailash Kher, who has a reputation of delivering hits when it comes to the music. Ravi Bal, the composer, needs a pat on his back for giving us a delicious taste of music with a perfect, melodious, and a must-listen song to start with.

Abrar-ul-Haq and Ravi Bal – Sohniye Heeriye

Ravi Bal comes up with a new job this time, which is signing, along with the King of Bhangra Abrar-ul-Haq for a foot-tapping number called Sohniye Heeriye. All in all, the song starts up sharply enough to catch-up the listener but doesn’t really hold on throughout, in terms of arrangements and composition; it could’ve been a better track with a better length as well.

Sunidhi Chauhan and Hunterz – Ilah Ilah

Ilah Ilah is a near-perfect song with a catchy beat; the composer Hunterz has done a marvelous job in pulling off a good number which has the vocals of the talented Sunidhi Chauhan in it as well. But still, one would wonder why in the blue hell I said that is a ‘near-perfect’ song and not perfect all-alone itself. Well, first and foremost, the rapping part kills the song and secondly, I will never understand the greediness of our film-makers who will become so sophisticated about the hip-hop/raps that they would want to include them in their songs, not even caring if it’s put forcibly or not. The example of this greediness can be found in the song Dil Janiya of Bol which was sung by Hadiqa Kiyani.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan – Haal Da Mehram

It seems like, now a days, nothing is complete without having a Rahat Fateh Ali Khan-trademarked-style song. Composed by the M. Arshad of Pakistan, the song, especially the musical arrangements, and its plain tune, are pretty much a run-of-the-mill stuff. However, the vocals of the legendary maestro RFAK are spot-on.

Shaan – Jaadu Bhari

We’re living in a modernized age – in which, we listen to the electronic stuff so frequently, but this romantic number Jaadu Bhari relies heavily on the old-style music of Lollywood, and even Bollywood. The composer M. Arshad does nothing special here and comes up with another run-of-the-mill song, which isn’t even worth listening to for the second time.

Shreya Goshal – Meri Ankhon Mein

Bingo! It’s the third time M. Arshad doesn’t cease to amaze me with his boring composition. Lyrically, this song resembles a lot with the two – flirty hit numbers of Bollywood; a) Bheege Hont Tere of Murder; b) Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai of Jism. The sweet sound of Shreya Goshal is something to cheer up for though.

Shreya Goshal – Kitni Haseen Hai Zindagi

Kitni Haseen Hai Zindagi is a long composition, finalized by Najat Ali, having the much-praising vocals of Shreya Goshal. Overall, this song could’ve been better in terms of everything; from lyrics to composition to its tune.

Ali Zafar – Love Mein Ghum

Love Mein Ghum is the title, as well as the final, song of the film’s official soundtrack. Waqar Ali, the composer, collaborates with Ali Zafar, the singer. It’s a dance number, which I guess will be used for the commercial purpose of the film. Composing-wise, this one’s a better song than Najat Ali’s and M. Arshad’s. And there’s another plus for it, which is the unique vocals of the Pakistani sensation, Ali Zafar.
OVERALL
Reema Khan’s second directorial project Love Mein Ghum is all set to hit the cinemas across Pakistan on this Eid and the soundtrack of the movie sounds promising. As far as the composers matter; Ravi Bal, Hunterz, Waqar Ali, and M. Arshad (for the Haal Da Mehram only) have provided decent songs.
And in a nutshell the music of Love Mein Ghum is more than average. The film’s music is definitely worth buying for.
OUR PICK(S):
“Sohniye Yaadan”, “Ilah Ilah”, “Haal Da Mehram”, “Love Mein Ghum”

Bol (Urdu: بول; translated variously as “Say“, “Speak” or “Talk“) is a 2011 Urdu-language Lollywood film written, directed and produced by Shoaib Mansoor. The feature film was released on 24 June 2011. The film stars Humaima Malik, Atif Aslam, Mahira Khan, Shafqat Cheema, Manzar Sehbai, Zaib Rehman and Amr Kashmiri in the lead roles. Salman Khan’s ‘Bodyguard’ Movie Is Super Hit And Record Opening 100 Million

The festival of Eid has once again proved to be lucky for Bollywood superstar Salman Khan whose new release “Bodyguard” has earned a record Rs.22 crore net as first day collections — surpassing blockbusters “Dabangg” and “3 Idiots”.
The action-packed drama, in which Salman has teamed up with Kareena Kapoor, was released on Eid-ul-Fitr Wednesday. His “Wanted” and “Dabangg” too released on Eid in 2009 and 2010, respectively.
“Bodyguard” has not only surpassed first day collections of “Singham” (Rs.9.1 crore), “Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara” (Rs.8.15 crore), “Delhi Belly” (Rs.7.15 crore), “Ready” (Rs.13.5 crore) and “Dum Maaro Dum” (Rs. 6.2 crore), it has also overtaken the box office earnings of “Dabangg” and “3 Idiots”, which collected Rs 14.5 crore and Rs.13 crore, respectively, on the first day.
“The response to the film has been amazing. We had estimated the collection to be Rs.20 crore on the first day and it went on to be Rs 21.5-22 crore net, which are phenomenal figures for the first day,” Priti Shahani, chief strategy and marketing officer, Reliance Entertainment, told IANS.
“Salman, no doubt, is the biggest driving factor as he has a huge fan following. A good release date is extremely crucial on the theatrical side and Salman and Eid are indeed a lethal combo,” she added.
Made at an approximate budget of Rs.60 crore, the film released in India with 2,600 prints and 325 prints overseas. Shahani said they haven’t yet got the figures for overseas collection.
A Hindi-remake of the Malayalam film of the same name, “Bodyguard” has been directed by Siddique and co-produced by Salman’s brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri and Reliance Entertainment.
Shahani predicts that the film will cross the Rs.100-crore mark in the very first week.
“Looking at the unprecedented response to the film, ‘Bodyguard’ is likely to cross the Rs.100-crore mark in its first week,” she said.
With an extended weekend, multiplex owners are hoping to make good business.
“The opening has been nice, the occupancy has gone up to 80 percent. People are liking the film. We are hoping for a good weekend and expect the occupancy to go up to 100 percent,” said Munish, managing director (marketing) of Satyam Cineplex.
Yogesh Raizada, of Waves Cinemas calls the film a treat for Salman fans.
“It’s a complete Salman Khan with lots of action and some comedy. People are enjoying the film. On the first day, the occupancy was around 80 to 90 percent in the suburbs and in the NCR region. We hope an equally good response over the weekend,” he said.

I wasn’t uncomfortable with bold scenes – Vidya Balan

She is at her boldest ever in “The Dirty Picture”, but actress Vidya Balan says she never felt a sense of discomfort shooting for the movie as she was in the “trusted hands” of director Milan Luthria.
“I have never enjoyed being a woman more than I did while shooting for ‘The Dirty Picture’. I wasn’t uncomfortable doing bold scenes because I knew I was in trusted hands,” Vidya told reporters here Tuesday.
The actress, who reprises late southern siren Silk Smitha’s rise and fall as a glamourous star in the film, spoke at the theatrical launch of the film.
The movie also features Tusshar Kapoor, Emraan Hashmi and Naseeruddin Shah.
“I have worked with Naseer before but this time it was easier…I was less nervous this time,” said Vidya, who had teamed up with the veteran actor in “Ishqiya”.
On working with Bollywood’s serial kisser Emraan, with whom she has locked lips in the film, she said: “I was wondering how it would be with Emraan, but it was fun.”
The trailer promises viewers that Vidya would indeed be seen in a never-seen-before avatar in the film, which is set for release Dec 2.

Facebook wants you to try to hack into its site Facebook will pay you $40,000

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Facebook wants you to try to hack into its site -- and if you succeed, it will pay you for the details.
Facebook said this week that that it has paid out more than $40,000 under its new "bug bounty" security initiative. Launched three weeks ago, Facebook's program invites security researchers -- both the professional kind and hacker hobbyists -- to send it the details of any Facebook vulnerabilities that they uncover. If the report checks out, Facebook will pay a finder's fee of at least $500.
It's willing to go higher for extra-impressive bug spotting.
"We've already paid a $5,000 bounty for one really good report," Facebook Chief Security Officer Joe Sullivan wrote in a blog post. "One person has already received more than $7,000 for six different issues flagged."
Although the social networking has its own security team, Facebook launched its bug bounty program to tap into the collective wisdom of the site's 750 million users.
"We hire the best and brightest, and have implemented numerous protocols," Sullivan wrote. "We realize, though, that there are many talented and well-intentioned security experts around the world who don't work for Facebook."
Researchers from more than 16 countries have successfully submitted bounty bugs, Facebook said. Its public "thank you" list names dozens of contributors.
Facebook also took pains to assure bug-hunters that it won't take any legal action against those who submit bugs, even if they were uncovered through less-than-legal routes into Facebook's systems.
That's often how hackers find vulnerabilities, but even those without any ill intent -- so-called "white-hat hackers" -- can land in hot water with companies if they tell them about their intrusion.

Looking Hot In Evening or Night choose Hottest Black Dress For Night 6 Top Secret Tips for Night Dress

Every woman needs an evening black dress. It's the one evening dress you can always slip on when you aren't certain what to wear for the evening, but you need to look wonderful.
Step 1
Consider about your body form. If you need to wear lingerie when you go out for the evening, you may not be comfortable in straps, backless evening dress and steep shoulders. But keep in mind that there are plenty of other ways to look hot in an black evening dress.
Step 2
Identify your major assets of the body. Is your back attractive? You would like to show a little shoulder? Is the low-cut style made for you? Are your legs worthy for the spotlight?
Step 3
Find a dress that's comfy. Get rid of any evening dress that makes it hard to walk, sit or groove.
Step 4
Decide a well-constructed evening dress of good fabric light wool or silk crepe is best with a lining. The lining will smooth your figure so the evening dress’ shell hangs neatly.
Step 5
Choose a black evening dress that's plain apart from that one saucy feature: crisscross straps in back; a daring neckline; a low slit in the side, back or front.
Step 6
Accessorize the evening dress for minimalist drama: fishnet stockings, a bold bracelet, a choker, or leopard pumps with a harmonizing bag.

Sometimes the color range is not your desirous one and if all in one is there, it does not fall in your budget. If you feel like getting one stitched for yourself, tailoring becomes a big issue. So searching for your style takes time, and this very reason pushes you to go for designer Eid dresses where you are given the opportunity of customizing the available designs for yourself.

Such embroideries or prints ask for full length frock like eastern cuts with which “choori Pyjamas” are the best suitable option. Pyjamas along with long lengthed frock shaped shirts are the fashion tide. Summers ask for lighter and cool colour tones. Bold contrasts are in.
Fabric Options for Eid Dress:
Fabric options for this Eid are all the lawn stuffs, pure chiffon or a combination of both. Considering the seasonal constraints, special lawn collections by known designers have successfully been launched for Eid dresses.

If you are seeking for a Pakistani Eid dress for yourself, you must consider the cuts that suit your body shape. People with short height can opt for the motifs which create an illusion of lengthy and sleek shape. The motifs that are formed lengthwise help creating such impact.

After buying one or getting prepared a Pakistani Eid dress for yourself, you need to accessorize your outfit with suitable and appropriate shoes and jewellery. And if you have collected all the stuff, you need to carry all these things with a style and grace. So Fashion Central hopes that you would definitely get a good Eid dress that suits your style this Eid. Happy Eid!

How to care you hair and how to make new fashion in hair style Hair Care Tips For Adults and girls and women

The Most Recommended Hair Cut: One great beauty tip to make your hair look beautiful yet easy to manage is to have it cut in Layers. Not everyone looks good in the same type of layers though, so here are some beauty tips on how to get the best cut for your particular face type: Oval Shape Having an oval shaped face means that you can get away with pretty much every haircut. The most flattering type of layers, though are long layers. Choose a cut that lets you have long layers without any spiky and short layers to balance the length of your face with the width. Round Shape A round face grants you the gift of looking eternally youthful. You can make your face appear slimmer by adding more vertical volume on the top of your head and keep the layers below chin level. Heart Shape A wide forehead together with a pointed chin make up a heart shaped face. To balance it out, you can have long layers that are delicate and smooth. When styling them, keep them soft and side swept. Square Shape For those with a square shaped face, it’s best to wear layers in medium length. Their texture must be wispy so that it will give the face soft curves. Avoid wearing bangs that are cut straight and also layered bobs that fall on the chin. This should give you a good, flawless look. Other Hair Beauty Tips you must know: To keep your hair healthy, deep condition it once for every two weeks. Deep conditioning treatments make their way into the hair shaft and fortify the strands. It is best to use a blow-dryer while deep conditioning because the heat triggers the hair cuticle to open up and let you make the most out of the deep conditioning ingredients. Wash your hair once only every two to three days, because washing it too much will dry up your scalp and hair. If your hair gets oily easily, then you can spray some water at your hair’s roots to give it a lift. If your hair gets dry easily, then you can condition the ends of your hair because the ends are the ones that experience the most damage and get the least nutrients. If you want to get sexy beach locks, you can actually mix some sea salt with water in a spray bottle and squirt some on your damp hair. Then you scrunch up your hair and let it dry naturally. If your hair gets tangled after a bath, start combing at the ends with a wide toothed comb first. It will be easier to detangle after the ends are loose

Girls Smoking Owesum Style Never seen before in the world

From the Latin word stylus, “a pointed instrument used for writing.” That, according to our glossary entry, is what the word style meant 2,000 years ago. Nowadays, definitions of style point not to the instrument used by the writer but to characteristics of the writing itself:
The way in which something is said, done, expressed, or performed: a style of speech and writing. Narrowly interpreted as those figures that ornament discourse; broadly, as representing a manifestation of the person speaking or writing. All figures of speech fall within the domain of style.

Pakistani " Jinnah " , Indian " Gandhi " And Us

As minutes are ticking towards midnight, uproars of Pakistan Zindabad hails are coming from amongst frenzied crowds of people who make sure they are heard by every one. And where it conjures up an avalanche of patriotic emotions brimming up to the top, it sets one back to the time these hails were heard for the first time, on the eve of 14th August. It’s strange yet meaningful that the two nations celebrate their national days only 24 hours apart and ironic at the same time how these 24 hours' distance gave way to a myriad distances and differences between the two nations, once under one flag.

With the celebrations of this twin dominion, a bibliography of history is revised; the leaders who architect-ed the design of these states are remembered, upheld and praised for the tenets they laid for these two proud nations.Yet, how ironic it is that what an amnesiac mind we give to their truly proposed ideals, what perturbed them the most and what took them from us.

Partition ensued what was never imagined by our leaders. Our history never included, at least theoretically and practically any call for war, for oppression and violence. It was meant to be and could have been a peaceful, non-violent carving out on paper, of the two states. But the reality was much harder to handle as it was to believe, when a spasm of sectarian and racial violence that gripped the Indo-Pak sub-continent as days neared partition. The mass violence and humanitarian disaster that took the lives of hundreds of people, also consumed the two leaders.

Jinnah who was well-acclaimed for his formidable strength is reported by Mir Laik Ali, his political disciple, “Never in my life had I seen Mr. Jinnah emotional except on that day. He asked me if I had seen the…refugees as I drove from the airport..I had of course. Tears rolled down his cheeks several times as he spoke of the mass human misery.” Fatima Jinnah, his sister was also close enough to observe him, “even in this hour of triumph the Quaid-e-Azam was gravely ill…I watched him in sorrow and pain. He had little or no appetite and had even lost his ability to will himself to sleep. All this coincided with reports from both sides of the border of harrowing tales of massacres, rape, arson and looting. He began his day discussing these mass killings with me at breakfast and his handkerchief furtively often went to his moist eyes..”
And for Mahatma Gandhi, the greatest leader India is ever to have, announced to live in Pakistan to safeguard minority rights, cared so much that in the early 1948, “he won the last of his fasts –unto-death persuading India’s cabinet to pay its debt of 55 curores of rupees to Pakistan, helping to put an end to the slaughter and looting of Muslims in and around Dehli.”He the up bearer of peace who vehemently fought against violence was shot to death by a “hate-crazed” person.

Our leaders lived and died advocating a lawful and peaceful way of settling affairs. Jinnah who never thought he wouldn’t be ever able to step in his homeland again, never sold his property in Mumbai, planed to visit his house at Maraball hills during holidays. And Gandhi who willed to live the rest of his life in Pakistan had never imagined the iron walls erected between the two countries and what people of both sides have to go through, in the name of strict visa scrutiny, and even then denied the right to step in their motherlands. What a tragedy that scores of people who migrated from across the borders could never go back to meet their families. I can barely manage to imagine the pain that my grandmother had felt on being damned to never see her family and folks again. Why?

Even now, at every next instance, we see governments of each sides and sometimes people engaged in hurling abuses at each other. Does, having separate systems to operate and live in, mean a metaphor for hatred. And when do we really expect this six decade animosity to end? Is attaining peace and love we once shared ,and that is still ingrained deep down our hearts due to our centuries long connection with each other and our shared cultural and historical heritage, too much of a romantic ideal to attain?

Our real leaders,Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Mahatma Gandhi never wanted this, never advocated for hatred. Then why We, the carriers of their legacy, their spiritual progeny insistent on going against their dreams. Today, let’s only pay tribute and homage to our leaders and swear to follow their proposed ideals that only, meant peace and love for each other while celebrating our national identities and days. What is style? Put simply, it is the way something–anything–is done. There are no limits to how something can be expressed, designed or presented, whether that thing is a story, a staircase or a stiletto shoe.
You can’t avoid style; it’s impossible to do something without doing it in a certain way. Even the ingredients on a ketchup bottle are typed in a certain font and size, placed in one location and not another, perhaps with some euphemisms to disguise unsavory ingredients.
Every style expresses or amplifies an outlook on life, even if this outlook can’t quite be put into words. To understand a style, you have to understand something of the mood, philosophy or aesthetic tendency behind it.

Dr. Aamir Liaquat's Reply on FAKE Video --- Blaming GEO TV for the leaked video

Dr. Amir Lyqat Lanti Orignal Video Challange to Prove This Fake

Amir Liaquat- The Holy Entertainer ( leaked video ) Aalim Online

Amir Liaqat devotee or loather, the leaked video was the epitome of voyeurism across the board. Fake, edited, dubbed or real, the man in the video has risen out of this saga as the greatest entertainer of recent times. Not only that, he's also modest enough to attribute his own brilliance to his ex-employers. Unpretentious as a nun. Look what I did here. Ironic?

Ever noticed how ungrateful and unappreciative we are as a nation of gems like him? Neither Meera nor Zohair Toru can even remotely match his talents. Some also go to the extent of saying, he's Chaplin of the speaking-film era. The man is responsible for resurrecting Ghalib and endowing us with what can be described as one of the most novel Pakistani internet memes. Instead of venturing into futile arguments about the authenticity of the video, media intellects should expend all their efforts in creating a much-needed, reality show based around Mathira and the man himself, Aamir Liaqat. Experts are positive that with his signature fist-pumping actions and his catchy euphemism for verility drug(makhan), coupled with Mathira's nefarious sounding Gujji Gujji, the show could break all ratings' records. There are also rumors that his current employers might not be renewing his contract and in the next season the show might be re-branding itself as Aalima-Online, with its new host, Mathira.

Whilst he left the veteran actor Dev Anand mildly irked and offended, it is reported that Aamir Liaqat would be starring in the rendition of Rishi Kapoor's Qawaali, "Hai agar dushman", in the upcoming movie "Nazuk Soorat-e-haal" alongside Veena Malik. According to his manager, just a few minutes after the clip was aired, the prices of all of Aamir’s performing acts were increased by 300%. Another 200% hike was charged to his Bollywood-inspired crying act.

It was initially assumed that the video, testifying his canting hypocrisy, would prove baneful for the channel he currently works for. However, a reverse reaction was observed when the entire nation sat before their television sets, in a state of delirious reverence. Even though Aamir Liaqat has resorted to taking the expected route by claiming that the video was doctored in the same Hindu-Zionist-CIA-Raw lab where AIDS was created, much like his own Doctorate degree, people got slightly confused when he used tongue-twisting, difficult words like "synchronization" in his rebuttal, but eventually bought everything, verbatim.

Amazing Unbreakable Laptop Pictures and info must see this thats really amazing

 Getac X500
Traditionally, rugged laptops have required a military-grade surplus of tradeoffs. Typically this has meant lower-speed, older CPUs, tiny hard drives, a dearth of ports and even prior-generation operating systems installed.
Whether the manufacturers were reluctant to change configurations regularly or buyers simply didn’t care about performance is a mystery. Either way, you got a bulky and durable machine, but one that crawled along at the most basic of tasks.
That changes with Getac’s X500: A rugged laptop that, finally, has the tech chops to back up its MIL-SPEC cred. Certified for MIL-STD-810G and IP65 (your standard shock, water and fungus resistance) and “ready” for MIL-STD-461F (which covers electromagnetic interference), the Getac X500 is a handle-equipped, 12.4-pound slab of magnesium alloy and rubber with plenty of power under the hood.
Internally, the X500 is powered by a 2.67GHz Core i7 CPU, 4GB of RAM and a 160GB solid state hard drive. Integrated graphics, you say? No: The X500 springs for an impressive Nvidia GeForce GT 330M. The 15.6-inch LCD only provides 1366×768-pixel resolution, but it’s designed for outdoor viewing, giving it a blinding level of brightness. (In fact, it’s quantitatively the brightest display I’ve ever tested.) The display also features a (resistive) touchscreen: It works with your fingertip, but the included stylus is a better bet for accuracy.
Performance is off-the-charts stellar. The X500 turned in near-record marks on both general productivity apps and, shockingly, gaming framerates. That’s excellent news for our military readers: The X500 is just as good for killing actual insurgents as it is for virtual ones.
I also tested the X500’s rugged chops by dropping it several times, dousing it with water and even parking a Subaru Forester on it. Damage was never worse than surface scuffs and cosmetics: The pavement scraped up the underside of the laptop and shredded the rubber feet, but those appear to be easily replaceable and designed to take some punishment. The photos above were all shot after I rained abuse upon it, and as you can see, it doesn’t look battered or frayed.
Gripes, aside from the beastly size, are moderate. The fan is so loud and powerful that it blew papers off my desk from a distance of 18 inches. The touchpad is dismally unresponsive, making it one of the few times I actually preferred to use a laptop’s touchscreen to the traditional pointer.
Whether you’re out there in the field or find yourself playing the role of Chairborne Ranger, Getac’s latest has guts enough for the toughest of tasks. Of course, if the weight doesn’t give you a hernia, the price might. But since it’s likely being bought on Uncle Sam’s dime, well, what do you care?
